In an effort to bring abstract art into a more functional, utilitarian object for everyday people, PAR KER made woven textiles were born.

Before a piece exists in its new life of a woven textile, each artwork is originally conceived from a “less-than contemporary” method of textile design, that is, originally painting each design by hand with acrylic on canvas, or ink on paper.

Embracing the subtle irregularities and soft imperfections within each design, and intentionally preserving the design conception via handmade practice, the final result allows the viewer to experience these once two-dimensional art & design pieces into a new functional, soft sculpture form.

Each textile is individually woven with a jacquard weaving loom, that utilizes only six natural dyed yarn colors to overlap and weave into one another creating the final design.

A rainbow fringe on one side, black & white on the other, and up-close vibrant detail of color layering can be seen upclose on the final piece. This weaving process also creates a reversibility aspect to each design. Warm colors on the front, cool colors on the back.

All textiles are fully made, end to end, here in the USA.
