FRAMED WOVENS
Intertwining the worlds of textile art and traditional painting is the transformative process of developing “Framed Wovens”. This method breathes new life into an artwork, unraveling conversations about tactility, functionality, materiality, process, presentation, and the marriage of art, craft, and design.
By exposing my process of taking my original handmade painting off the wall, reconstructing it into a woven tapestry, stretching, framing, and reinstalling it back on a wall, I aim to challenge our preconceived notions of art form and presentation.
Transforming a once two-dimensional painting into a multidimensional piece that demands to be felt and experienced, and having the piece anchored by a frame, serves the work as both a physical boundary and an imaginative gateway.
I invite the viewer to embark on a sensory journey, to delve deep into the piece’s intricacies, traversing realms of paint and thread, unlocking new perspective metaphors on the voyage of one’s self-transformation and unearthing the captivating beauty that lies within a woven tapestry.
